With the widespread use of remote work, hiring software engineers from abroad is becoming increasingly popular, and a must for companies that want to remain competitive. Due to differences in living costs, there can be huge differences in the salaries of software engineers across countries. If you are properly informed about the costs and the quality of developers, you can get up to 3 times more value for your money than if you were to source developers in your own country. We collected data from over 50 countries where software engineering is growing and thriving. You can find average developer salaries in the United States, Europe, India, and many more countries.
We compared software engineer salaries by programming language and experience level in the USA, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, UK, Finland, Sweden, and Hungary.
Whether a developer is a junior, mid, or senior does not just depend on how many years of experience they have, although it can be a useful indicator. For the sake of simplicity:
• A junior software engineer has about 0-2 years of experience.
• A mid-level developer has been working for about 3-5 years in the field.
• And a senior software engineer has at least 5 years of professional experience.
